In a push to capture a larger share of the American travel market, the Playas de Rosarito Tourism and Conventions Committee (Cotuco) recently hosted a multi-day press tour for journalists from across California.
The initiative was designed to showcase the destination’s diverse appeal spanning gastronomy, culture, adventure, and natural beauty to key media markets in the United States.
Over the course of three days, reporters from San Diego, Temecula, Los Angeles, Pasadena, and Carlsbad embarked on an itinerary that highlighted several tourism destinations and culinary delights.
Day One
The journey kicked off with breakfast at Xantina Brunch & Bistro before transitioning into the rugged terrain of the Rosarito Canyon ecotourism route. The excursion included three distinct stops:
Carrizo, where visitors explored traditional cornfields; Rancho 4 Milpas, a popular social event venue and home to a century-and-a-half-old tree; and La Providencia, where journalists sampled locally made artisanal dairy products.
The adventure continued with ATV tours and a scenic horseback ride along the Dock Area with Rosarito Beach.
In the afternoon, the group attended a food festival at Tinta Negra, located inside Hotel Festival Plaza, where they indulged in craft beer, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, and fresh seafood.
Dinner was served at Occio Alta Tradición, a restaurant helmed by brothers Aldo and Armando Patatucci, who treated the guests to a three-course meal paired with craft brews.
The evening wrapped up at Delliots Brewery, where the journalists sampled an array of beer styles before retiring to Hotel Corona in Downtown Rosarito.
Day Two
The second morning began with an American-style breakfast at Sunio Beach Club.
The group then traveled along the El Médano Route, making their first stop at Restaurante El Arroyo, where they enjoyed a lively conversation over machaca burritos with handmade tortillas, beans, and refreshing hibiscus water.
Next came Rancho Guzmán Restaurante, a sprawling property featuring cabin rentals, event spaces, camping areas, and swimming pools.
The journalists also discovered Aromas & Encino, a charming rustic restaurant serving chilaquiles, machaca, and pancakes.
A highlight of the day was the visit to Puerto Nuevo, the famed lobster village, where the group dined at La Casa de la Langosta, a family-run establishment of the Plascencia family.
At Colectivo Surf, they paired craft beer with sushi and freshly cut ceviche topped with a tropical fruit salsa.
The afternoon took them to Patio Popotla for a tasting of locally produced beer, followed by a stop at the iconic Alex’s Curios, one of the area’s pioneering handicraft shops. The day concluded with an overnight stay at Hotel Puerto Nuevo.
Day Three
The final day began at Punta Bahía, where breakfast featured enmoladas, French toast, and chilaquiles.
The group then traveled to El Descanso for a historical visit to the 18th-century La Misión ruins and then to Casa Machado.
This was followed by a refreshing stop at Santorini, a venue inspired by the Greek island.
The culinary journey continued at Los Portales de García, where journalists toured the wine cellar and sampled house-made whiskey, wine, and mezcal.
The tour ended in grand fashion with the Rosarito Beerfest 2026, held at Las Rocas Resort & Spa, where local producers showcased a wide variety of craft beers. The group also stayed overnight at the resort.
Cotuco underscored the vital role of local businesses and service providers in making the tour a success, praising their hospitality and commitment to elevating Rosarito as a premier destination for both domestic and international travelers.
