U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations intercepted a small boat carrying three Mexican nationals who were allegedly attempting to enter the United States illegally near Point Loma, authorities said.
According to CBP, the incident occurred on July 19 at approximately 11:05 a.m., after the vessel was spotted crossing the U.S. maritime boundary by the Joint Harbor Operations Center in San Diego.
18-foot vessel stopped off the San Diego coast
A coastal interceptor crew from CBP Air and Marine Operations responded to the area and stopped the 18-foot boat before conducting an inspection.
Officers found three Mexican nationals on board who were suspected of attempting to enter the country unlawfully by sea.
Migrants transferred to Border Patrol custody
Following the interception, authorities towed the vessel to Naval Base Point Loma’s Ballast Point facility.
The three individuals were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol, where they will undergo further immigration processing.
