On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos El Vaquero” located at Gob. Ibarra, America, 22044. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a rib eye taco priced at $11.42 dollars ($200 pesos) and a sirloin taco priced at $4.57 dollars ($80 pesos).

Sirloin Taco

This taco has sirloin, guacamole, pico de gallo, and it is served on a handmade flour tortilla. The first thing to note about this taco was that the tortilla had a small size and good thickness. When he tried it, Chef Danny was surprised by its good flavor, as he claimed that it had a homemade touch that allowed him to taste the lard.

The meat was seasoned with salt and cooked at an ideal level where it was juicy. Chef Danny claimed that this meant that it had been “perfectly cooked”. The guacamole was authentic as it only had avocado flesh and it helped the taco stand out and this is why it gets a rating of 8.6.

Price: $4.57 dollars ($80 pesos)

Rib Eye Taco

This taco has rib eye meat, guacamole, martajada salsa, chimichurri, and it is served on a handmade flour tortilla. When he tried it, Chef Danny claimed that it “tasted like butter” and that the meat had a softer texture than the previous taco.

The tortilla with its peculiar thickness and by being full of flavor stood out a lot. Chef Danny added that even though he hadn’t tried chimichurri in a rib eye taco before, he said that it added a lot as well as the salsa which was not very spicy. Due to the quality and flavor of the ingredients, Chef Danny came to the conclusion that this taco is worthy of its price which is why it gets a rating of 9.1.
