Terra Peninsular A.C. has spent the last 25 years conserving the region’s iconic ecosystems and breathtaking scenery, elements deeply woven into the identity of Baja California. In celebration of this milestone, the state’s Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development (SMADS) has publicly honored the group’s dedication.
Elvia Martínez Santos, head of SMADS, publicly recognized the organization’s constant work in protecting and managing natural areas during a commemorative event. She emphasized the profound impact Terra Peninsular has had on the environmental well-being of local communities.

She also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening environmental initiatives, working hand-in-hand with the state policies championed by Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda.
This recognition shines a well-deserved spotlight on those who, for decades, have bet on preserving the natural resources that give life and meaning to Baja California.
The SMADS official added that the state’s environmental roadmap is bolstered by partnerships with organizations like Terra Peninsular, groups that have led critical projects in habitat conservation, adaptive ecosystem management, and public awareness campaigns while underscoring that the path forward relies on collaboration, community participation, and a shared love for the region’s natural heritage.
