A woman from Phoenix, Arizona, now living in San Diego, accidentally crossed into Tijuana after missing a critical exit.
The incident, which has since gone viral on social media, happened while the woman was driving with her daughter to Las Americas Premium Outlets, the popular shopping center located right along the border in San Ysidro.

“Today, completely accidentally, we ended up in Tijuana, Mexico,” she said in a video. “I was trying to go to the San Ysidro outlet mall. We missed the last exit to the U.S. I didn’t even see it! I have no idea how that happened.”
To make matters worse, her daughter had forgotten her ID at home. As soon as they realized they had crossed into Tijuana, they made a U-turn and headed back to the San Ysidro port of entry.
The woman admitted the whole situation was an accident. She was distracted and simply didn’t take the last exit before the border crossing.
Luckily, her daughter’s passport was already registered in the system. A U.S. immigration officer was able to verify her information, and the pair was allowed to cross back into the United States without any problems.
