A fuel-laden tanker truck belonging to Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) veered off the Tijuana-Ensenada highway and came dangerously close to flipping over after slamming into a concrete barrier.
The crash unfolded near the Machado bridge in Playas de Rosarito, right by the Constitución neighborhood.
As the driver attempted to merge onto the bridge, the 31,500-liter tanker smashed into a retaining wall, getting lodged against it in a precarious, partially tipped position that threatened to send it rolling over at any moment.

Crews Work Quickly to Pump Out Fuel
With the tanker still fully loaded, emergency crews wasted no time calling in a second vehicle to transfer the fuel before attempting to remove the damaged vehicle. The move was critical to reducing the risk of a spill or explosion during recovery efforts.
Personnel from Capufe, Pemex’s firefighting division, and the National Guard rushed to the scene, quickly setting up a safety perimeter.

As a precaution, authorities shut down access to the Machado bridge while crews worked to stabilize the situation.
So far, no injuries have been reported. Officials remain on-site, carefully managing the operation and working to get traffic flowing again as soon as possible.
