U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that irregular border crossings have significantly decreased following his return to office, stating during a public address that the nation has recorded zero successful unauthorized entries over the past 17 months.

Speaking at an event commemorating National Hispanic Heritage Month, the president emphasized the strict enforcement measures implemented by his administration.

“But we have we’ve been very strong. And for the last 17 months, we had zero people. I mean, think of that,” Trump told the audience.

While maintaining that unauthorized entries have effectively ceased, the president noted that individuals continue to enter the country through lawful channels, such as filing formal asylum applications or processing visa requests.

Trump used the platform to defend his immigration agenda against critics he termed “open border lunatics,” warning that any policy shift toward easing restrictions would compromise national security by permitting criminal elements to enter the United States.

“We’ll have the open border lunatics. I’m not talking about only South America, I’m talking about from all over the world, they’ll let the lunatics in. Every prison, all over the world, prisons from the Congo, in Africa, from all over the world they emptied their prisons into our country,” he said.
