Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, a candidate for the State Coordination of Morena, made a return to San Quintín this week, a municipality he considers foundational to his political career within the party.
During a meeting with founding members of Morena in the area, Burgueño reflected on the early years of organizing, voter education, and electoral defense that helped solidify the movement’s presence in the region.
He emphasized that revisiting these communities is a deliberate effort to reconnect with the very people who shaped the project since the beginning.
Among those present was Cecilia García Ovalles, a founding figure of Morena in San Quintín, who praised Burgueño’s deep familiarity with the region and its challenges.

“He knows the territory and that is the most essential quality for any coordinator,” she said.
Burgueño, in turn, acknowledged García Ovalles as a key partner in those early days, recalling how she consistently prepared local teams for election protection efforts.
“Coming to San Quintín always meant coming to work with Professor Cecilia,” he said. “We would arrive with our team, and she always had the community ready and trained.”
García Ovalles also noted the significance of Burgueño choosing San Quintín as one of the first stops on his current tour, interpreting the decision as a sign of lasting commitment.
“That tells me San Quintín will remain a priority in the work ahead,” she stated.
