San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood will turn into a Halloween destination on Sunday, October 25, when its annual Trick-or-Treat on India Street event brings an afternoon of candy, costumes and family activities to the area.
Running from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., the celebration will invite children and families to visit participating businesses along India Street and nearby streets for trick-or-treating. The event will also feature live music, seasonal vendors, photo opportunities and a costume contest.
Jack Skellington Takes Over Piazza della Famiglia
One of this year’s main attractions will be at Piazza della Famiglia, where the decorations will draw inspiration from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The plaza will feature a 13-foot-tall figure of Jack Skellington, the film’s iconic Pumpkin King, alongside oversized pumpkin displays and themed backdrops designed for family photos.
The plaza will also serve as a starting point for visitors looking to find businesses participating in the candy giveaway.
Costume Contest, Live Music and Kids’ Activities
Families will find several activities beyond trick-or-treating. A dedicated coloring area will give younger visitors another way to join the festivities, while live music performances are scheduled for the intersection of India Street and W. Fir Street.
The costume contest, organized by Shake Shack Little Italy, will give attendees a chance to show off their Halloween outfits. Local autumn vendors selected by Little Italy Mercato will also offer seasonal products and merchandise.
Street Closures and How to Find Participating Businesses
To make the event easier and safer for pedestrians, the section between W. Cedar Street and W. Grape Street will be closed to vehicle traffic during the celebration.
Visitors can pick up a map of participating businesses at Piazza della Famiglia, located at the intersection of India Street and W. Date Street. A digital version will also be accessible through QR codes posted along India Street.
With candy stops, themed decorations and activities for children, Trick-or-Treat on India Street offers families a chance to celebrate Halloween in one of San Diego’s best-known neighborhoods.
