After a 10-year absence, Metallica is set to shake San Diego once again in 2027. The band recently confirmed it will take the stage at Snapdragon Stadium as part of its M72 World Tour.
The announcement marks the long-awaited return of one of the music industry’s most iconic heavy metal bands to San Diego. The last time Metallica performed in the county was in August 2017, when the “Enter Sandman” legends played Petco Park.

Metallica is no stranger to San Diego. Over the years, the band has played the county multiple times, including a memorable appearance at Comic-Con in 2013 and a show at the Cox Arena (now Viejas Arena) at San Diego State University back in 2008. Still, a full decade has passed since local fans last had the chance to see them live.
Going further back, Metallica’s very first San Diego show took place in March 1985 at The Backdoor, also on the SDSU campus. When the band returns in May 2027, it will mark their fourteenth visit to the city.

When Do Tickets Go on Sale?
The concert is set for Thursday, May 13, 2027. Presale tickets will be available starting Monday, September 21 at 10:00 a.m., exclusively for fan club members.
