Beachgoers, dam visitors, and families across Tijuana enjoyed a holiday season free of major incidents, as the Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection reported a clean slate for the “Safer Holidays 2026” operation.

According to agency director José Luis Jiménez González, zero incidents were reported for the second year in a row. This was made possible through coordinated teamwork between municipal agencies, emergency responders, and responsible participation of citizens who heeded official recommendations.

Jiménez González explained that authorities rolled out safety measures across key recreational hotspots, including the Abelardo L. Rodríguez and El Carrizo dams, as well as the city’s coastline. In the first week alone, these efforts reached over 7,000 visitors.
In addition, through the “Safe Zone” program, Civil Protection conducted inspection patrols at eight local pools and resorts, ensuring they met all safety regulations and civil protection standards.

Meanwhile, officials offered safety guidance in person and through digital campaigns to strengthen Tijuana’s culture of prevention.
The Tijuana City Hall urges the public to remain vigilant year-round and to call 911 in case of emergency.
