Tacos El Paisano in Tijuana serves authentic guacamole with their tacos

This restaurant offers a unique flavor that you won't find anywhere else.

Chef Danny Betancourt visited Tacos El Paisano, which is situated at Av.de los Insurgentes 31, Libramiento, Tijuana, in this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana. Two tacos were sampled on this occasion, one made of adobada and the other of roasted pork, which cost 22 pesos.

Taco de Asada

This was the first taco he served to our host, and it had roast beef, onion, cilantro, a tomato sauce with jalapeno pepper, guacamole, and a medium-sized double tortilla. When he tasted it, he said he could taste the charcoal in the meat as well as the guacamole, which was not "aguamole," meaning it had not been reduced with any liquid.

The sauce had a consistent degree of spiciness; the only thing to keep in mind in this situation was that the tortilla was a little hard and dry, neither toasty brown or soft and as a result, the texture became a little "leathery." This taco received a score of 7.3 from him.

The cost is $ 22 pesos ($ 1.10 DLLs).

Taco Adobada

The two tortillas in this taco appeared to be a bit more yellow at first look, but the taco also contains marinated beef, guacamole, onion, cilantro, and a chile de arbol sauce. Before sampling the taco, one thing to keep in mind is that the marinated meat appeared to be a little light in color.

When Danny tasted it, he confirmed that the marinade used on this meat was not the standard one used by other taquerias; he explained that it contains an aromatic herb called epazote, which gives it a unique flavor that is not uniquely seen in different adobada tacos. He also mentioned that an excellent quality for both this taco and the taqueria is that its guacamole is made entirely of avocado pulp, with no extra liquid to make it into "aguamole." He awarded this cue a 7.9 out of 10 grade.

Price: $ 22 pesos ($ 1.10 dlls)
