The mayors of Baja California’s municipalities jointly issued a statement in support of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda following the revocation of her U.S. visa.
In the statement, the officials described the governor as someone who has consistently demonstrated her commitment to the social, economic, and cultural development of the region. They emphasized that her leadership has strengthened and advanced the well-being of Baja Californian families.
They also noted that under her administration, the state has made significant progress in combating poverty, making progress on major infrastructure projects, boosting investment, and expanding access to culture.

These efforts reflect a government that is close to its people and forward-thinking, which is why the officials called the current situation “deeply regrettable,” particularly given the complex state of Mexico-U.S. relations. They stressed the need for dialogue, mutual respect, and diplomatic prudence between the two nations.
“We trust this matter will be resolved in accordance with the law and with respect for the principles of understanding and sovereignty between nations. We reiterate our support for Governor Marina del Pilar, confident that her work will continue to benefit Baja California,” the statement concluded.
The document was signed by all seven municipal mayors: Claudia Agatón Muñiz, Mayor of Ensenada; Norma Bustamante Martínez, Mayor of Mexicali; Rocío Adame Muñoz, Mayor of Rosarito; Román Cota Muñoz, Mayor of Tecate; Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, Mayor of Tijuana; José Luis Dagnino López, Mayor of San Felipe; and Miriam Cano Núñez, Mayor of San Quintín.
Federal Deputies Show Support for Marina del Pilar
Meanwhile, Baja California’s federal deputies also voiced their full support for Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda following the U.S. government’s decision to revoke her visa.
The lawmakers stated that the measure lacks public justification and was taken without clear explanation, adding that it should not be interpreted as a judgment on the governor’s or her family’s character or integrity.

“We reiterate our confidence in the governor’s dedicated work for the well-being of Baja Californian families: strengthening the economy, driving social development, and promoting justice and equity in our state,” their statement read.
They called for unity and respect for Mexico’s sovereignty and internal decisions, reaffirming their commitment to defending the rights and dignity of the country’s public representatives.
Baja Californian Senators Weigh In
Furthremore, the Morena parliamentary group strongly condemned what they called “malicious speculation” and a “smear campaign” by conservative opponents aimed at damaging Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila and her family, whom they fully support.
“We urge the small faction of the opposition seeking attention at all costs to abandon slander, lies, and pettiness. It’s clear they only seek to stir public opinion, as they lack any constructive political agenda,” the senators stated.
The Morena officials described Governor Marina del Pilar as a key figure in Baja California’s transformation, highlighting her results-driven leadership in security, public space revitalization, and social well-being. They suggested that her effectiveness is precisely why she has faced such fierce attacks—but emphasized that “she has the support of her people, which is what matters most, and of the legislative majority in Mexico’s Senate.”
