Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that can affect communication, social interactions, and more. It is called a “spectrum” because it encompasses a wide range of manifestations and support needs for those who experience it.
In recent years, awareness of ASD has grown significantly, thanks to the active participation of individuals with autism and their families, who highlight that autism should not be viewed as a “limitation or obstacle” in life.
While Tijuana already offers several therapy options for those in this broad spectrum, a new center, one that aims to redefine ASD care in the city, has been announced.
Introducing La Granja TJ: A New Center for Children with Autism
La Granja TJ is making itself known even before its official opening, as its primary goal is to reach all families with children and teens on the autism spectrum.
“La Granja is not a clinic or a traditional school, but rather a place where learning happens through play, art, and nature.”

The center will offer play-based therapies, creating a safe, fun, reliable, and inclusive space for children and teens with ASD, providing them with the tools they need to develop skills related to:
- Self-sufficiency
- Emotional co-regulation
- Well-being
La Granja (The Farm) will use several therapeutic methods with positive stimuli, joyful environments, and outdoor activities. Available therapies include:
- Art therapy
- Animal-assisted therapy
- Equine therapy
- Horticultural therapy

As the names suggest, some therapies involve interaction with animals such as horses, dogs, donkeys, and more.
“That’s where our center’s name comes from—we believe in the therapeutic and educational value of connecting with nature and animals.”
The center is expected to officially open in August of this year, as it is currently under construction in Tijuana’s Hipódromo area.
