In response to disturbances, National Guard to guard San Ysidro border checkpoint

After incidents with migrants and vendors, 25 National Guard elements will guard the border crossing point

The situation at the border crossing has gotten out of control for several reasons: the first is that due to the constant crossing attempts and protests by migrants, people have had to wait long hours to cross to the "other side".

On the other hand, there have been recent reports of friction between vendors at the border crossing and people heading to San Ysidro. This after merchants hit and destroyed the car in which a family, with a baby a few months old, was traveling.

This provoked the "NiunDólarmás" movement where those crossing the border ask not to buy any products from the border crossing. Little by little more testimonies were gathered about similar situations, where it was reported that people have been victims of violence or extortion by the vendors.

There are also people who have come out in defense of the merchants, declaring that it is not fair that "everyone should pay for some".

In this matter, according to the local newspaper El Imparcial, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Pedro Cruz Camarena, informed that the surveillance at the San Ysidro border will be reinforced and shared that there will be 25 members of the National Guard, whose duty will be to watch over the security of the citizens.

Likewise, 30 more elements of the police will be installed for this purpose and to stop illegal crossings of migrants who continue in their attempt to gain access to the neighboring country.
