"For me it was an honor to serve Tijuana" says departing mayor

In order to say goodbye to the citizens of Tijuana today, Wednesday, September 29, on her last day as mayor, Karla Ruiz Macfarland, who has been in office for several months, wrote the following letter:

"Today, with all the respect you deserve and being congruent with my message of unity and peace that I tried to establish in and peace that I have tried to instill in the government and in each of the sectors of the population with whom I have worked hand in hand to make Tijuana a city of dignity, I am writing to inform you that as of this day, 29th of this month, the that as of this day, September 29, 2021, I leave office as Mayor of the XXIII City Council of this magnificent city.

For me it was an honor to serve Tijuana, this city that I love so much, that has given us so much, and that is full of opportunities for those who are willing to take actions for the benefit of the citizens and for which I appeal that the transition of government be carried out in an atmosphere of cordiality, unity and consensus and that it transcends individual interests for the welfare of society.

Political situations beyond my government's control have forced me to retire in this way, however, in the period that I had the opportunity to get to know the profound work that we, as Tijuanans do from our trenches to move this great city forward, was the driving force that drove the actions implemented in my administration, always focused in one direction: to dignify the social, political, cultural, environmental, business, urban, touristic and tourist life of this great city and security for each one of you.

It was a short period to do great things, but it was a long time to not do something. I had enough time to realize that from politics or from my private life, I can positively impact anyone who from the heart, with honesty and respect, wants to do something good for the community.

In this sense, I leave satisfied with the achievements obtained, calm with the conciliations achieved, proud of the great work I have done. I am proud of the great work done by each one of the people who took on, along with me, the great challenge of leading one of the most impressive cities in the world.

Of course, I am also very proud to have represented the women of Tijuana with my head held high and very grateful to each of the communities, of the business sectors, of the citizens who trusted me and gave me the opportunity to serve them and who shared opportunity to serve them and who shared my vision that dialogue, consensus, are the best ways to do great things and transform our society.

Respectfully.

Lic. Karla Patricia Ruiz Macfarland".
