TIJUANA Voters of Tijuana will now have a second independent candidate to choose from in the already packed mayoral race, and a ninth one, total. This comes after Baja Californias Electoral Justice Court (TJEBC) confirmed that local media executive Carolina Aubanel Riedel had sufficient valid signatures in order to register as an independent candidate.
The Baja California Electoral Institute General Council (IEEBC) had previously claimed that Aubanel didnt gather enough valid signatures, but now the TJEBC has ruled against that decision, stating that there were irregularities in both the signature review process as well as in informing the candidate about the situation regarding those signatures.
The states Electoral Justice Courts decision was unanimous and validated a total of 30,987 gathered signatures.

There hasnt been any reporting regarding reprinting the election ballots to include Aubanels name or if the ballots are still on the design phase.
