Hospital occupancy based on COVID-19 continues to drop in Baja California

Currently there are 817 available beds and 230 ventilators statewide

One of the indicators that has shown a significant decrease during the COVID-19 pandemic in Baja California is hospital occupancy, which a month ago was 44.70%, and today is registered at 13% statewide.

According to the report provided this Thursday by the Secretary of Health Alonso Perez Rico, of the seven hospitals that treat patients with coronavirus, those of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) are the emptiest, reporting an occupancy rate of 10.55% as of this morning. On the other hand, those of the Secretariat of Health have 15.61% of their facilities occupied.

The head of this agency mentioned that 76 people confirmed hospitalized with COVID-19 and 46 more intubated due to the same disease were hospitalized on Thursday. However, there are 817 beds available and 230 ventilators in the entity to continue facing this health crisis, which is not over yet.

So far in the pandemic, 43 thousand 683 Baja Californians have been infected and 7 thousand 378 more have lost their lives.

There are 489 active cases, 241 of which are located in Tijuana, 123 in Mexicali, 49 in Ensenada, 34 in San Quintin, 19 in Tecate, 17 in Rosarito and six in San Felipe.

According to the Effective Reproduction Rate indicator, one person with COVID-19 in Baja California spreads the disease to another person.
