Restrictions on the border with the U.S. will be lifted when border cities are green

Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard informed that restrictions will only be lifted when the traffic light is green.

On Monday, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard informed that he is in constant communication with U.S. authorities to determine the best situation for the reopening of the border with the United States.

According to the official, there is an ongoing conversation in which both nations share the figures and indications made by the Secretariat of Health of both countries and so far they have determined that the border cities and municipalities will have to be in green color to eliminate restrictions.

He even shared that Sonora, which has a border city, is in green, so it will be proposed to the U.S. government to reactivate some of the border activities: "maybe not all the activities, but more activities than those that are currently allowed", he informed.

Of all the border states, Sonora is the only one that is in green, all the others, including Baja California, are in yellow. However, over the weekend the state saw a great deal of traffic in restaurants and nightclubs, which could influence the transition to green.
