U.S. Border Vaccines arrive in Mexico this weekend

The United States is already working to reopen the border gradually, said the Secretary of Foreign Affairs

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón, stated that the vaccine provided by the United States, Johnson & Johnson, for Mexicans between 18 and 40 years of age in the border cities between that country and Mexico, will be arriving by the weekend.

"We estimate that the Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be arriving in Mexico by the end of the week, for reasons of all the regulatory provisions that have the objective of preserving the safety of the vaccines".

Let's remember that the objective of this vaccination agreement between Mexico and the United States is to speed up the reopening of the border crossings between both countries.

Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard also commented that during his visit, the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, said that since yesterday a team would be integrated to start working on how the process of reopening activities will be, "because we are not thinking that from one day to the next they will decide that there will no longer be any restrictions, but that it will have a different modality and probably it will be at different rates for each of the cities", added Casaubón.

He also mentioned that the integration of this group has already been confirmed by the U.S. authorities, and the Mexican side is also working on it, so they will be informing on the progress made.

Finally, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs informed that on June 14, the Secretary of Homeland Security of the United States, Alejandro Mayorkas, will arrive in Mexico, with whom the issue of border crossing restrictions will be discussed.

Baja California

Baja California's Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, in view of this news, asked the population to be aware of the date of application of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and the vaccination sites where they will be able to receive it in the next few days.

However, the State Government authority commented that he had spoken with Ebrard this morning to see the possibility of the vaccine arriving yesterday to Baja California.

And although at first it was said that only the municipalities that border cities in the United States will receive the vaccine, this morning Pérez Rico confirmed that in addition to Tijuana and Mexicali, Ensenada will also be added to the list of those benefiting from the vaccine provided by the neighboring country.

If you are between 18 to 39 years old, and you are from Baja California, you can register for the vaccine at http://bajacaliforniasalud.org/vacunacovid19
