Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) invites you to the play "Hombres Necios", a dancing and theatrical show that explores and addresses the normalization of violent behavior against women.

“Hombres Necios” is a play that delves into the motivations behind gender-based violence through a poetic reflection that reminds us that theater is an excellent tool of raising awareness to draw attention to social issues that surprises and impacts the viewer.

The Tijuana native company "Contra Cuerpo". in cooperation with the Portuguese theater company "Astro Fingido". offers a theater and dancing experience inspired by a poem by renowned Mexican writer Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.

With this theatrical performance, the essence of violence is captured and it allows us to analyze its persistence in society.

The play is directed by Fernando Moreira and Ángela Marquez, who are basing it on an intense sociological research process and real interviews with assailants, who have been condemned and are currently in rehabilitation programs in Portugal.

As such, they have managed to portray this phenomenon rather poetically, reflecting the undeniable reality of the world and transforming the acclaimed poem by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz into an interesting production.

"To describe Hombres Necios, I would use two words: reporting and awareness. It cannot just be one thing, this issue is so complex," said director Fernando Moreira.

In addition, there is a choreographic creation by master Jorge Domínguez, which transmits strong feelings that help the viewer create critical thinking through art.
