Cruz Azul vs Tijuana Xolos: Looking to break two bad records

Xolos travel to face league leading Cruz Azul

MEXICO CITY - Following their 1-0 loss to the LA Galaxy on Wednesday night, Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente travel to the capital city for a tough test against Cruz Azul. The Xoloitzcuinltes will be looking to do away with two negative records in this match; they haven't won an away league match in over a year and they have never been able to defeat Cruz Azul.

The match is scheduled for Saturday March 15 at 5:00pm local time (4:00pm pacific time) from the Estadio Azul in Mexico City. Please note that while the time change took effect in the United States and the border region of Mexico; central Mexico has not changed times yet, kickoff times will not be what we are a custom to.

Both clubs are coming into the match after traveling to the United States and suffering 1-0 losses to MLS opposition in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champion's League. Liga MX league leaders Cruz Azul fell to the reigning MLS champions Sporting Kansas City, while the Xolos lost to the LA Galaxy.

Since achieving promotion the first division, Club Tijuana has faced Cruz Azul on five different occasions and has yet to be able to beat the Mexico City giants. Three of the matches have ended in draws while Cruz Azul have come out victorious two times.

The last match between the Xolos and the "blues" ended in a 0-0 draw at the Estadio Caliente, while the last time they met in the Estadio Azul the match ended in a lop sided 5-0 win for the home team.
