Tijuana decreased its active cases from 446 to 326, according to Baja California's Health Secretary Alonso Pérez Rico, who indicated that the state also has 844 active cases.

However, according to what was presented by the head of this secretariat, the hospitals located in Tijuana that attend patients with COVID-19, are those that report the highest hospital occupation.

Of those belonging to the Ministry of Health, the General Hospital of Tijuana has 171 patients with coronavirus, out of the 310 in the different hospitals. However, of the 83 intubated patients, 33 are at the General Hospital of Mexicali.

While in the hospitals of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) where there are 443 people confirmed with COVID-19, 216 are located in the General Hospital Regional 1 in Tijuana. In the case of the intubated patients, which are 43, 16 are also in these facilities and 16 more in the General Hospital of Zone 30 in the municipality of Mexicali.

In general, hospitals in Baja California report an 80.5% occupancy rate, 185 available beds and 135 ventilators.

According to Pérez Rico, in the last 24 hours 238 new cases of coronavirus were reported in the state, 125 registered in Tijuana, a city that accumulates 11 thousand 912 positive cases of the 34 thousand 829 registered by the entity.

In turn, of the 77 recent deaths from COVID-19 in the region, 32 died in this municipality, which adds up to 2 thousand 448 of the 5 thousand 662 in Baja California.

Given the 2 thousand and 85 suspicious cases that still exist in the state, the Secretary commented: "We anticipate that from the 5th to the 10th (of January) we will have a peak, we hope not to break the barrier of December 7th (the day with the most suspicious cases). And from the 10th to the 15th we are going to have another peak, which is the one that responds to the gatherings on December 31st . With the exception of that we foresee the end of the winter season and a relatively gradual decrease in the number of suspected cases and therefore the number of confirmed cases, hospitalized cases and intubated cases. If we can hold out for the next 15 days in January we can win this war in this second wave".
