Mexico records more than 160 thousand deaths due to COVID-19

Yesterday alone, one thousand 707 more deaths were registered.

On Wednesday, February 3, Mexico surpassed the 160 thousand deaths mark caused by the SARS Cov-2 virus, with 161 thousand 240 deaths, with one thousand 707 more deaths registered in the last 24 hours.

According to data provided by the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), there are currently 2 million 82 thousand 399 cases reported in the country so far, adding the 12 thousand 153 infections registered today, while the mortality rate continues to remain at 8.5%.

The number of people who have managed to recover from COVID-19 increased to one million 450 thousand 237, however, there are still a little more than 80 thousand active cases of coronavirus.

With these figures, Mexico continues to be positioned as the third country in the world with the highest number of deaths registered due to the pandemic, only behind Brazil with 227 thousand 563 and the United States with 450 thousand 273, according to information from Johns Hopkins University.

Regarding bed occupancy, it was confirmed that of the 35 thousand 46 stretchers that are owned nationally, 18 thousand 481 remain occupied, with the states with the highest hospital occupancy being Mexico City (83%), the State of Mexico (82%) and Puebla (77%).
