Former Cop Arrested For The Murder Of Mexican Photojournalist, Ruben Espinosa

He had been previously consigned for torture

MEXICO CITY.- Mexico City's distric attorney recently informed that they have captured a former 24-year-old cop, who is believed to be involved in the murder of photojournalist Ruben Espinosa and four other women on July 31st.

"Today, police officials manage to arrest a person identified as Abraham Torres Tranquilino for his alleged participation in the aforementioned events," was mentioned through a message sent to media leaders of Mexico City's Attorney General Office by Rodolfo Rios.

Rios explained that, due to a petition by the Commission on Human Rights, no pictures of the detainee will be showed, also, during a time lapse of 48 hours the Public Prosecutors Office will determine the level of participation of Torres within the events, defining his legal situation.

"Once this time lapse is over we will be able to give details that we are legally susceptible to broadcast," highlighted the prosecutor, reinstating that "all lines of investigation remain open."

Earlier in the month, another person allegedly involved in the crime was also arrested. The person whose name has yet to be revealed, admitted to have participated in the events that ended with the life of Espinosa and four other women.

Torres is being charged as a "possible responsible", meaning that this doesn't imply legal responsibility until determined by a judge. Torres is a former police man from Mexico City's Secretary of Public Security and has a record, which involves torture, according to Rios.

Previously, what may have been Espinosa's last conversation was shared through WhatsApp.
