Due to abandonment, only 800 passengers use the SITT daily

There is currently a plan to reactivate the Integral Transportation System of Tijuana (SITT) to get 15 thousand passengers on board

Every day, less and less people are using the Integral Transportation System of Tijuana, known as SITT or Ruta Troncal. It has been recently revealed that only 800 passengers are using this method of transportation.

Due to this, Secretary of Sustainable Urban Mobility, Javier Delgado Garibay, stated that improvements will be carried out to incentivize its use. Initially, there were 17 units working and functioning in the route, but nowadays, only 5 units work due to the poor condition of the rest.

The head of the agency explained that there is a plan to reactivate the units, so that 12,000 to 15,000 passengers board every day. He also highlighted that the units will be cleaned, since their poor state is one of the main reasons citizens are not using them.

Our intention is to have 12,000 to 15,000 passengers using it every day, so that this becomes a real transportation option for all citizens.

At the same time, he remembered how the original SITT project was supposed to mobilize 120,000 passengers daily in its first stage. However, nowadays, only 800 users board it every day with only 5 functioning units.
