AMLO highlights Marina del Pilar’s administration in Baja California

AMLO addresses issues and progress in the state as part of his schedule in the country’s border

TIJUANA.- During this Thursday’s morning press conference, Mexican President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador spoke about a variety of topics regarding our state including infrastructure progress, healthcare Covid-19 breakthroughs, and Baja California’s Governor Marina del Pilar’s administration.

Speaking about the Governor, the President stated that she is doing a job that closely follows the numerous principles of the Fourth Transformation, which is why she has the support of the Government of Mexico and all of its agencies. “She was chosen by the people of Baja California and we are all working together: the state government, the municipal governments, and the federal government”, he stated in front of several local and national news media in Morelos Headquarters in the city of Tijuana.

Marina del Pilar emphasized that President López Obrador has visited Baja California twice in less than four months to address fundamental issues for the development of the state. She also emphasized the support Baja California has received from the Government of Mexico in its fight against Covid-19, highlighting that the vaccines have allowed the state to be very close to getting back to social, educational, and economic normalcy, as it is the state with most immunizations.

On the other hand, the Governor explained the importance of the presence of federal security forces in order to safeguard the state, which in turn has caused a crime rate decline, as stated by National Defense Secretary, Luis Cresencio Sandoval.

Marina del Pilar also added the importance of the Foreign Vehicle Regularization Decree, which will help to strengthen vehicular control, helping security matters positively.

During this morning press conference, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, and Subsecretary Ricardo Mejía both revealed important progress regarding the investigations of the murders of Margarito Martínez and Lourdes Maldonado, renewing their commitment that there be no immunity in both crimes.

The President’s work schedule included his supervision of the progress of two federal infrastructure projects: the second floor that will connect the Airport area with Playas de Tijuana, as well as the construction of a new border crossing in the Otay area. During both tours, Marina del Pilar and AMLO were accompanied by US-Mexico Ambassador, Ken Salazar, underscoring the binational unity necessary to complete both projects.
