The government of Baja California, led by Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda revealed that this year they will benefit over 14,000 students by giving them eyeglasses through the state “Ver Bien” (See Well) program, designed to improve students’ eyesight and vision impairment conditions.

She explained that the first phase will occur between May and June with the delivery of 7,000 glasses and the second phase will be for the same number in October, during the 2022-2023 school cycle.

The governor highlighted the effort by the Secretariat of Education led by Gerardo Arturo Solís Benavides, which has begun the delivery of glasses with 1,426 in Tijuana, 423 in Tecate, and 797 in Playas de Rosarito.

”Add to all of this, the education policies are being carried out to benefit families in the state directly and consolidate welfare actions by our government,” she said.

The governor reiterated that children and teenagers are a priority for this administration, which is why this is not only a delivery of eyeglasses, but also a way to generate the necessary conditions to bring them proper optometric assistance.

It should be noted that visual impairment problems such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism can notably affect students’ ability to learn, which is why the state government is influencing firmly and positively on their future development.

Additionally, the school breakfast program “Pancita Llena, Corazón Contento” will continue. With this program, 55,000 school uniforms, 94,000 school packages, more than 2,400 scholarships for students with good grades, 630 special education scholarships, and 120 pair of school shoes will be delivered.
