2nd earthquake reported in Mexico: a death is confirmed outside Coppel in Colima

One hour after today’s earthquake, another one occurred in the state of Colima with its epicenter in Tecoman

Another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 was registered a few moments ago in the state of Colima with its epicenter in Tecoman at 14:30 PM, Mexico City time.

So far, total material and human life damages are unknown.

On social media, the President of Mexico stated that there had been a possible death during the earthquake which had its epicenter in Michoacan. According to his Twitter account, there are news that a person lost their life due to a wall crumbling down. This wall belonged to company Coppel located at a mall in Manzanillo, Colima.

This information was reiterated by the Governor of Colima Indira Vizcaino who said that a civilian had sadly lost their life. Other significant damages have been registered in the state.

In addition, the governor stated that afternoon classes will be suspended in order to assess the damages that had occurred at education facilities.

The earthquake’s consequences are still uncertain. So far, the National Coordination of Civil Protection states that several sea abnormalities are expected that it could reach heights up to 82 cm above sea level in the region where the earthquake originated.
