San Diego-Ensenada ferry route could begin operations this summer

Binational organizations have agreed to this route’s implementation

Baja California is one of Americans’ favorite tourist destinations, however, there are some people who don’t visit other regional municipalities due to traffic chaos and travel times.

Due to this, Baja Californian authorities revealed at the beginning of 2022 the implementation of a ferry with a San Diego-Ensenada route, which would begin its pilot trial period to prove its viability.

During today’s morning press conference led by the Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila on Thursday, March 23, the Secretary of the Economy and Innovation of Baja California, Kurt Ignacio Honold Morales stated that this project is moving forward positively.

The company in charge of making the boat is Azteca Ferries and Honold added that the ferry is already made, and that it already complies with all environmental regulations. He claimed that he already had talks with all binational organizations related to this project.

It should be noted that both the San Diego Pier and the Comprehensive Port Administration (API) of Ensenada have agreed to implement this project. One of this sea route’s goals is to make border crossings easier for those who are looking to visit this municipality.

Kurt Honold added:

The idea, what we all want, is that now that summer is coming we can begin using the ferry. I see this project becoming a reality very soon.
