Marina del Pilar announces first adoption through "Familias de Corazón" program

Little 10-month-old Ángela was adopted by a family full of love

Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, governor of Baja California, stated that little 10-month-old Ángela became the first minor to be adopted after being part of the "Familias de Corazón" initiative, which will allow her to have the right to a home that will give her love, care, and a better future. This represents one of the main pillars of state policy focused on protecting this vulnerable group.

The governor recalled that approximately 7 months ago, Ángela was assigned to a Mexicali native family that gave her shelter while a multidisciplinary DIF Baja California team, comprised of law, social work, and psychology professionals part of the Agency for the Protection of Children and Teenagers, worked hard on her case.

Governor Marina del Pilar said:

This is a very special moment. It is historic for the entire DIF Baja California family and the state, because we are witnessing the result of the work and perseverance by two important programs which are "Familias de Corazón" and "Adopciones". Today they are making it possible for Ángela to be welcomed by a family which will give her all the opportunities that she needs for her development.

For her part, the president of DIF Baja California, Mavis Olmeda García, stated during this emotional act that little Ángela came to "Familias de Corazón" and they took care of her for 7 months. Full of tears, but certain she is in good hands, she was in charge of handing her over to her adoptive family, which received her with open arms and happy tears.

It should be noted that "Familias de Corazón" is a program that Governor Marina del Pilar actively promotes, as she has placed special interest so that the right to live in a family that every child and teenager has is respected. This is carried out through institutional permanent work by all of the agencies of her administration, in which DIF Baja California has an important role.

Olmeda García explained that, regarding the adoptive family, it is a marriage that already has a daughter, which is why Ángela will come to this family to receive all the love that she needs. In addition, she highlighted that the adoption process only took 7 months, from the first day the process and the proper studies began all the way until the adoption took place.
