Unexpected Wait Time at U.S.-Mexico Border

The San Ysidro border is the second busiest border crossing in the United

Monday usually brings everyone back to reality at the international border of San Ysidro – Tijuana. And because of all of the traffic that is created from those who are heading back to school and work, this day is generally the worst day of the week as far as the waiting time goes to cross the border back into the U.S.

Due to several lanes being shut down because of the budget cuts, the waiting time was expected to be up to 5 hours. But yesterday, on the busiest day at the border, the wait time was only three hours long. Although this wait time is almost half of what was originally projected, people still took their precautions and showed their frustration and anger because of the long wait.

During the holiday season the waiting time at the border was up to five hours, and that was back when there were not cuts or other modifications in personnel yet.

The San Ysidro border is the second busiest border crossing in the United States in comparison to the border at El Paso, Texas, which has normal crossing times and are not dealing with any type of problems like this one.
