MEXICO. - Local authorities from the state of Jalisco said yesterday that an American citizen by the name of Jeff Lydell Comer, and four other people were killed in two different bar attacks on Sunday night by an armed group in the Mexican city of Guadalajara.
In the first incident a man shot at the bar Route 66 (Ruta 66) and threw a grenade, said authorities in a statement.
In the bar Route 66,
Hugo Rodriguez Espinoza, 28, a customer of the place, and 2 employees by the name of Vicente Rojas Valdivia, 30, and another employee identified only as Karina "N" died as well.
The statement also said that 15 minutes later a second attack took place at a bar called Gol, but did not specify whether the two shootings were related.
The shooting at the second bar left two customers dead, American Jeff Lydell Comer, 45, and Julio Cesar Chavez Gonzalez, 20, prosecutors said.
These two attacks left a total of 17 people wounded, and authorities also closed down these two bars to investigate the scene of the crime.
So far there have been no arrests.
