The concept of Mexican beer that is famous around the world has slowly fallen in the ranks with the rise of the craft beer movement.
Baja California is one of the states with the most production and quality when it comes to craft beer, and Cervecería Insurgente is one of the breweries that has managed to stand out in the crowd, boasting excellent quality and considerable growth over the years.
This week they celebrated the inauguration of new facilities located in Zona Rio in Tijuana, where they will be able to increase levels of production considerably in order to fulfill demand for their beers, which is currently already being distributed in select stores around the country.
Other great news on behalf of the Cervecería Insurgente team is that they will be launching a beer in collaboration with Stone Brewery from San Diego and Chris Banker of the
American Homebrewers Association: "Xocoveza Mocha Stout" (pronounced "chocoveza", which translates to chocolate-beer). A beer made of coffee, cocoa, pasilla chile peppers, cinnamon, and nutmeg, of which 1,300 barrils have been produced and will be distributed throughout 41 states in the U.S. during the first week of September.
Cervecería Insurgente is another clear example of how craft beer is gaining more and more popularity in Mexico and Baja California, and forming part of the culinary surge in the State of Baja California.
