Mexico May Still Legalize The Use Of Marijuana For Medicinal Purposes

During a session with CICAD, the country talked about drug consumption from a health perspective

Mexico's participation during the 57th session of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CIDAD in Spanish), the country proposed treating the drug intake under a public health perspective.

The 34 representatives of the Organization of American States (OAS) talked about the need there is for reforming integral policies that will help fight this worldwide problematic.

During the session which took place at Washington, OAS headquarters, each one of the nations presented the strategies they're performing in order to confront anything related with the intake, abuse and commercialization of drugs.

Mexico's Secretary of Health assured that legalizing the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes, could help prevent social damages and put a stop to violence unleashed by its abuse. Another subject that was addressed was the possibility of decriminalizing those who consume drugs and in exchange they will try to give it a humanitarian focus for social readaptation, without having to be incarcerated.

Director of National Commission Against Additions (CONACID) Doctor Manuel Mondragón y Kalb, pointed out that Mexico is open to talk about decriminalization, regulation and legislation of some marijuana canaboids.
