TIJUANA.- Nortec as a collective has not officially ended, or at least it hasnt been officially announced, although at least two founding members have confirmed their departure from the collective.
Ramon Amezcua and Pepe Mogt, also known as Bostich + Fussible, discussed their new album in a press conference in Mexico City, and announced that their work with Nortec has come to an end.
Although Clorofila and Hiperboreal will continue on with the project, the creators of Tijuana Sound Machine have jumped the figurative electronic Norteño fusion ship. The final album by the original collective, titled Motel Baja, is slated for release on September 15.
This album polishes and further innovates the sound that they originally created, and which was the essence of the collective, as expressed in Tijuana Sound Machine in 2008, and Boulevard 2000 in 2010. Along with collaborations with musicians like Wolfgang Flur de Kraftwerk, Tom Tom Club, Atom TM and Argenis Brito. Vice describes the new album as an album where the pop qualities dominate.
