Baja Californian government is looking to reactivate SITT in Tijuana

The goal is to develop actions that will improve mobility in the border city

A panel discussion has been set up in order to develop actions that will help to implement positive mobility improvements in Tijuana, thanks to a mobility agreement signed by Baja Californian Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the Institute of Mobility (IMOS), and the Secretariat of Municipal Mobility (SEMOV).

Among the first actions that will be developed in coordination is the reordering of the public transportation system with special emphasis on the Comprehensive Transportation System of Tijuana (SITT).

In addition, a regularization program will be designed very soon regarding the occupation of public roads for sites, shuttle services, closed circuits, and other massive transportation system, taxi route, and taxi site components.

A partial mobility plan was agreed upon to be executed in known areas such as Puerta Mexico and El Chaparral, in the limits of Tijuana and San Ysidro, in order to regulate and structure roads and transportation services in this area.

There was also an agreement to work on an evaluation of new proposals to innovate public transportation as well as strategic and infrastructure projects in the city’s roads.

The coordination works began with the reinstatement of the delivery-receipt between SEMOV and IMOS of more than 13,000 original permit transportation files of different forms of mobility that will be delivered on paper and digitally to the state government. In this process, the Solicitor Syndicate representing the Municipality and the Secretariat of Honesty and Public Service of the State will both participate.

Subsequently, IMOS and SEMOV will establish a common calendar regarding the inspection, surveillance, and assistance to users of the different transportation modalities of Tijuana, as well as periodic meetings to evaluate the progress that is obtained through this interinstitutional coordination.
