In order to have an area with optimal and worthy conditions, state governor Marina del Pilar led a tour through temporary shelter “Villa de los Niños” facilities, part of the Comprehensive Development for the Family System (SDIF) in Colonia Guajardo in Mexicali. During her tour, the director of state SDIF, Mavis Olmeda García and the legal representative of Protection for Girls, Boys, and Teenagers, Berenice López Meza, were both present.

In her tour, Marina del Pilar spoke with the children participating in the referendum “Do you hear me?” meant for children and teenagers organized by DIF Nacional, whose goal is to take into account the voices of children regarding their needs and concerns, and articulate a comprehensive public policy that helps their overall well-being.

Inside the shelter, Ávila Olmeda visited the area designated for girls from 6 to 11 years old, to whom she told that they are currently working so that they have the essential services for their development such as a balanced diet, recreation, and medical and psychological assistance. The governor reiterated that it is her administration's priority to build welfare conditions for girls, boys, and teenagers, especially for those under the custody of the state DIF.

Marina del Pilar also visited the area meant for teenagers from 12 to 17 years old, who shared with her the activities that they like to do such as music and sports. The governor also stated that historical investments are being allocated so that there are enough spaces focused on assisting all minors and special areas for specific issues such as children and teenagers with disabilities, disruptive conducts, or those that require psychological and psychiatric assistance.

Lastly, she highlighted the collaboration with the Government of Mexico regarding the use of resources that are needed to launch several program as well as public state organizations such as the Psychiatric Institute of Baja California (IPEBC), so that assistance is comprehensive and all children and teenagers of Baja California can develop correctly.
