Tijuana will burn during the next few days: heat wave alert issued

Alert is issued due to a heat wave in both Tijuana and San Diego

Starting Tuesday, it is expected that San Diego and the border region of Baja California registers an increase in temperatures. Sadly, this excessive heat will continue all the way to September 5. That means that there will be seven days with temperatures above 90°F (32°C).

Temperatures could increase and range from 110°F to 116°F during the Labor Day weekend in the US. In fact, Daniela Guichenne, Telemundo weather forecast presenter, stated that tomorrow Wednesday August 31, Tijuana’s temperature will be 32°C.

We remind you that San Diego County has put together a “cold zone” program in case of extreme heat. This will take place in some libraries and auditoriums. You can check out these designated places right here.

Among other things, Baja Californian authorities have issued some recommendations for these next few days such as using sunscreen, not doing physical activities in peak heat hours from 11:00 AM to 15:00 PM, not spend too much time in the sun, not leaving children or pets inside vehicles for any reason during the day, and using clear and loose clothing.

The secretariat has also asked people to be aware of the following symptoms: intense thirst, skin elasticity reduction, sullen eyes, or irritated or concerning behavior. If these occur, one should go to the nearest health center immediately.
