San Felipe received more than 80,000 tourists during the Holy Week vacation period

Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the governor of Baja California, is currently supervising coordinated actions to attract tourism to the port of San Felipe, providing a better experience for visitors through the unity of the tourism sector. This is part of a strategy to incentivize tourism in the state.

The state governor held a meeting with the president of the Municipal Foundational Council of San Felipe, José Luis Dagnino López and rear admiral Marco Antonio Peyrot Solís, commander of the Navy Sector at the port, to review the progress of recovery of tourist activities after the pandemic, as well as actions to develop safe tourism.

As such, the governor emphasized that during Holy Week 2023, the San Felipe port received more than 80,000 visitors, a number that exceeds pre-COVID numbers and demonstrates the recovery of this economic activity.

“In San Felipe, Holy Week in Baja California occurred with people respecting highways, institutions, and our beaches. Tourists were up to par and we ask them, when they go back, to drive carefully as we continue to be on the lookout in Baja California,” she said.

Marina del Pilar informed that, for this operation, 26 institutions and organizations participated, with 4,705 agents and 1,411 vehicle units being deployed in the tourist destinations of Baja California, especially to monitor the busiest highways and tourist spots, to safeguard people’s lives.

Marina del Pilar stated that the Secretariat of Tourism of Baja California installed mobile units in the state’s main tourist spots, in order to guide visitors and improve their experience in Baja Californian lands, prioritizing their wellbeing and integrity, and reaffirming the state’s position as one of the best places to visit.

Marina del Pilar reaffirmed that, with diverse landscapes, dynamic cities, and an internationally renowned cuisine in Mexico and in the world, Baja California has been strengthened on touristic matters and has managed to recover and exceed the number of pre-COVID visitors, which is why the coordinated work between the state government and the tourism industry will continue.
