Special Operative in Place for Labor Day in Baja California

The State is prepared for a large influx of tourists

TIJUANA.- Tourism and security officials are getting ready to receive thousands of tourists this Labor Day weekend, according to Oscar Jesus Escobedo of Baja California Secretary of Tourism.

"We have had an excellent summer season, which indicates that this weekend should be no exception, and most tourism related operations are looking forward to sealing off this season with positive levels. In accordance with instructions from State Governor Francisco Vega de Lamadrid, we are working to ensure that tourists have all the information and assistance they need to enjoy their stay in Baja California", says Escobedo.

Escobedo estimated that the destinations with the most visitors are beach locations such as San Felipe, Bahia de Los Angles, and Rosarito Beach, although Tijuana, Ensenada, and Mexicali should also see an increase in visitors.

"Of course, because of the weather, tourists want to find places where they can enjoy the sun and the beach is the perfect choice, although other places make up by offering events to attract a greater number of visitors" he added.

Escobedo states that their tourist assistance department has met to coordinate along with security personnel at all levels of government, including the Green Angels who are ready to help out if needed.

"They set up along the side of the highways during high seasons and are on alert in case of an accident or incident requiring assistance; the truth is they have done a great job and we are very appreciative of the support they have provided" he said, in relation to the Green Angels organization.

Finally, he said that the tourist attention line 078 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to help visitors at all times. There will also be seven mobile units set up in various locations throughout the city to provide information visitors.
