Controversy sometimes is the best marketing campaign there is, and prohibiting "The Interview" has worked wonders for Sony, proving to be one of their most successful films of the year as well as the most illegally downloaded, specially in the Asian market.
According to the New York Times, the film turned out to be a phenomenon within just a few hours of being available for digital download (only in the United States) through YouTube and XBox Video. However, once something hits the internet, it's just a matter of minutes before you can download it illegally.

It's no secret the film had such a success due to a morbid interest on behalf of its viewers, who were so keen to figure out the reasons behind the film's cancellation, even in China where there was only one site with subtitles available, and the the film was seen over 300,000 times with and still counting. Regarding the quality of the film, there have been mixed comments from audiences. Although Americans have liked it, there have been more complaints from Asians, specially in South Korea regarding the way the characters pronounce the language and how it isn't as funny as they expected.
There are no plans for the film's official release on the international market yet, but it is rumored that Sony will soon make some announcement about it. Have you watched "The Interview" already?
