Several protests have taken place in recent months, particularly by feminist movements seeking justice for disappearances and femicides that have increased in number each year. However, while most of these are peaceful, some have gotten out of control.

For this reason, the deputy for Morena, Nazario Norberto Sanchez, has proposed that due to the social protests and the damages that have been caused, the person who is caught damaging any property should be sanctioned with 36 hours of work.

The above was proposed before the Congress of Mexico City, and would imply modifying article 29 of the Law of Civic Culture. Nazario Sanchez added that damages to furniture or real estate, statues or monuments with historical value would be charged with cleaning and restoration work.

These damages include the painting, mistreatment, dirtiness, and improper use of private or public properties, but not only the statues or monuments would be included, but also the mailboxes, parking meters, bridges, mailboxes, and even water taps.
